April Open day
Saturday 18th April 12pm to 4pm
Our first open day this year will be opening to mark a National Day of Action for Nature, Parks and Green Spaces. So far 80 groups have signed up to mark the day ahead of the local elections in May 2026. As you know we are still campaigning to save Gorne Wood and this day will be about the importance of places such as Gorne.
We will have :

A talk on Lewisham's history of green space activism

A maypole for children to dance around

Singing from the Nunhead Choir
And as always: -
Kid's activities

Cakes and drinks

And lots and lots of trees :)

A is for acorn - Open day
Sunday June 8th from 12pm to 4pm ALREADY HAPPENED :)
Inspired by Robert Macfarlane's Lost Words project, our Open Day this Sunday 8th June 12pm to 4pm celebrates the words of nature with activities, talks and readings that describe wild green landscapes like Buckthorne.
Authors, speakers, story tellers and workshop leads include Mo O'Hara, Flora Baker, Amari Harris, Gareth P Jones, Anna Dempsey, Florence Wilkinson, Robert Cole, Katherine Hughes and the Crofton History group,
We also have music from the Nunhead Folk Circle and Lily Lyons along with the 3rd Crofton Park Scouts, Magic Eyes Face Painting and the Friends of Crofton Park Community Library who are supporting us with this exciting Open Day.
It kicks off at 12pm and finishes at 4pm. Entry is free.
* No dogs allowed and there are no toilets available.
