Gorne Wood in the news

Did you spot us on the telly? On Friday ITV London news featured a piece on our campaign to save the ancient Gorne Wood. Their ‘tale of two landscapes’ showcased the community led Buckthorne nature reserve on one side of the footbridge and the derelict rubbish strewn developer owned Scout hut and woodland site on the other. Our thanks for the support of:

Alice Roberts from Campaign to Protect Rural England talking about the wider issue of threatened green spaces.

Cllr. Paul Bell from the Council talking about the Council’s commitment to supporting this campaign and their ‘disgust’ with how the land owner has treated the site.

Paul Bristow of the 3rd Crofton Park Scouts talking about how valuable the site would be to the scouts and its importance to the scouting movement.

Mathew Frith of London Wildlife Trust outlining the bio-diversity and fragility of green spaces such as these

And our own Anna-Maria Cahalane talking about the incredible heritage value of the site.

Unfortunately nearly 4 hours of filming was edited down to just 2 and a half minutes so not everyone was featured. To donate to the fundraising appeal please click here.
